Lady Grey Photography

I heard about this trick a couple of years back, and I think its so much fun! Free lensing is the idea of taking your lens off your camera, flipping it around and holding the end against your camera body while shooting a photo.  Why would you do this? It gives a really unique effect, and it is great if you don't have a macro lens! These are the photos I took during a hike up in Washington a few years back when I tried it for the very first time.  (remember these are photos from 4 years ago, before I was doing photography as a business--this is not a professional technique, anyone can do this! All of these were with my very first rebel, that was about 3 years old and taken with my kit lens) I've used my kit lens (18-55) and my 50mm doing this, both have worked great! This family was quite amazing. They contacted me for updated family photos, as they had recently adopted their youngest daughter, and needed updated photos with the addition to their family. I loved seeing how well the girls played and got along. Their eldest is already fulfilling the roll of big sister, and doing an awesome job at it! Such a blessed family, and the perfect way to end my weekend! 

Photography was a passion of mine long before I started my business. My business actually started as a way to let friends/family know that I was available if they needed someone. Actually, my friends approached me before I started advertising. That is for another post :)  My sessions started out at $30 I believe. It included everything---all photos, whatever you wanted. I was using the camera equipment I already had, which was my old Canon Rebel and my kit lens.  Then I started buying more equipment, I've bought 5 or so new lenses since then, bunches memory cards, batteries and chargers, a flash, as well as 2 other cameras. There are a number of little things I've purchased too, like a hand grips, hoods, filters, gray card, on top of other business necessities like business cards, DVDs and mailing envelopes etc. There is a lot of expense that goes into photography. About 6 months ago I had a session with sweet little Baby E...and I can't believe how much she has grown! She has little teeth, can sit up on her own, and is constantly giggling and talking! This weekend was my first wedding of the season, and what a way to kick it off! I've never met a more laid back couple before. They've been together over 11 years, and you can tell they were just meant to be together. I couldn't believe how well they handled a few hiccups on their special day! The chairs arrived just moments before the wedding, and after the bus arrived at the venue, it promptly had a flat tire and was unable to take the party to the reception. They didn't sweat it though, but instead called a few friends in and everyone was ready by the time photos were over!  A beautiful wedding, a gorgeous bride, and a lovely day! 

This amazing couple had their engagement session this weekend! It was my first time meeting either of these two lovebirds, and I can't wait to be shooting their wedding this fall. We had a great time strolling around in the park, taking photos and chatting. So excited to be seeing them again at their wedding!

This little girl will be turning one year old very soon! We had an awesome "Smash the Cake" session with this sweet little girl. I've found parents are often surprised when their kiddos aren't too thrilled to be getting messy cake all over them. We get lots of tears at these sessions, but Baby S handled it so well! Encouragement for all moms thinking of doing one of these sessions, even if their are tears, we still make it look like these little ones are having the time of their life tearing into a cake!
