Austin: Senior 2015

Austin was absolutely hilarious during his photo session. He was making me laugh the entire time. He started the session with a serious face that looked  like the Zoolander blue steel face, it was hilarious! Also, who doesn't love that curly red hair! I loved seeing how he interacted with his mom and grandma during the session, such a nice guy! Best of luck to you, Austin,  in your final year of high school!

Snapshot of Your Photographer #2

Here is another photo to tell you a little more about myself!  First, this was taken on my phone in between sessions on Sunday. It was hot out...super hot. I just needed a place to sit and cool off. I tend to book my schedule back to back, so having a free moment is rare, but often very needed So what can you learn about me from this photo? 1. ipad. I'm almost always plugged in. Whether its by smartphone or ipad. It took me a while to get into the smartphone craze, but I realized my need when I missed a photography appointment last winter. I'd never forgotten about an appointment before, and haven't since! That was the shove I needed to get the smartphone when my client was attempting to contact me through facebook.  2. Coffee. I'm a big coffee drinker. Rarely is it ever Scooters (this just happened to be the closest place in between sessions) but my coffee of choice is Starbucks. I worked as a Barista at Starbucks through law school and I'm

L Family: Maternity

I've had the pleasure of watching the L family grow these past 4 years. From meeting their son, to taking photos of their new puppy (now a full grown dog) and celebrated with them during their gender reveal a few months ago when they found out they were having a boy!  They little boy will be arriving in a few short weeks, and I'm so excited to meet him! We held this session in their backyard and in their new home. I loved catching up with the L family, and can't wait to meet baby A!

Senior 2015: Emery

E is one of the two Senior sessions that I had this Sunday. It was sunny and over 90 degrees....it was hot. She took the heat like a champ and didn't complain once. E had such a great smile and was so comfortable in front of the camera. Also, absolutely love her curly blonde hair!! Best of luck to you this next year and your future plans after graduation!

Baby

Babies are just the cutest...am I right?  This sweet little girl was such a joy. She wanted to be held all the time, but the minute you picked her up, she stopped crying instantly. It was a lot of up and down for this baby, but she did great.  Also, she has the sweetest older sister! She did a great job helping during the session, and talked to her baby sister the whole time.  What a perfect set of girls!

The F Family

Last time I worked with the F family, their oldest boy had just turned one year old. I was pleasantly surprised when they contacted to take photos of their newest little guy for his 1 year photos! We had lots of fun running around the park, playing football, and having a good time taking pictures!  These guys love football, the "tackle" each other, run to score touchdowns, (well one of them can run for touchdowns), and throw the ball like a pro.

Kevin

This is my husband, Kevin.  He has been training in photography for a while and assisting when I need a second shooter. Believe it or not, I'm not always easy to work with as I can be a little demanding and scatterbrained at the same time (the lawyer + photographer combo if you will).  The beauty of having my husband along is he can read my mind. We've been together since we were both 20, and he is certainly my perfect match. This guy was so incredibly helpful this weekend when I needed some assistance at a new location, trying a few new photo tricks. Some days we simply ask each other if we want to go out "shooting" and away we go with our cameras.  Did I mention he is a graphic designer? There are days when I want to throw our Mac out the window, and he patiently comes by to help me (often saying first "how in the world did you even mess this up?!) He is the most patient, and fun loving man I know. We own our etsy shop together ( Lady Grey Shop ) a

Wedding Photography: Guests

I absolutely love weddings. However, I think there is some etiquette that many people don't know nowadays when it comes to attending a wedding where a professional photographer has been hired to capture this special day! If you know all the below, hallelujah, all wedding photographers love you :)  Here are my etiquette suggestions for guests attending a wedding with a hired professional photographer. 1. The Bride is my Client. Although you may think "The bride wants a photo of my family, so I must grab the photographer to take a photo at the rehearsal of me and my family" If she didn't tell me, its probably not top of her list. I'd suggest never pulling the photographer aside to take a photo of you, your friends, or family. If I think the bride wants one, I'll take it. If you're really concerned about this, check with the bride first. This isn't so you'll have a photo tagged of you at the wedding on facebook. This goes for bridesmaids and the

The G Wedding

The G wedding here in Omaha was absolutely beautiful. The bride graduated law school a year ahead of me, and although we'd never met we were connected by mutual friends when she sought out a photographer. We met the day of her wedding, and I had a blast capturing her special day.  I also had my first experience at a Catholic wedding, which although all weddings can be very unique, this one was extra unique to me. The longer ceremony, involvement of family and church was really amazing.  These two newly weds had such a special day! Congratulations!

The D Family

The session with the D family was a blast. We were all worried about rain that day, but the clouds made for a great session! The two girls will be back to college soon and the family wanted to make sure to get a family session in before they started back. What a beautiful family, inside and out!

Photographer Gifts

Looking for a gift for your photographer friend? I have to share a few of my favorite fun gifts for anyone that loves photography! It can be hard to buy equipment for a photographer, but photographer themed gifts and accessories are easy!  I actually love this  ENTIRE store ...but this mug is an extra favorite Camera Pillow   Love this print ! I dont have a kid...but love this tshirt ! Speaking of tshirts!  Cutest stamp in the world (and only $5) This shop turns old cameras into lights etc. Amazing! The Oh Snap Tote :)  What I wouldn't suggest buying for the serious photographer without running it by the photographer: Cutesy camera straps, lenses, filters, white balance tools, camera bags and other things they would use in their business.  We can be somewhat...okay....a lot...picky about those sorts of things!
